Transportation Specialists Since 1984
EDR International, Inc. was founded with a goal to provide
management services to shipping lines and logistics companies based
outside the U.S. that required expertise in developing a U.S. and/or
Caribbean/Central America Agency Network for their shipping
business.
In 1985, the company entered into a joint venture with Southern Steam,
Inc. of Mobile, Alabama. EDR International with Mr. Del Riego as
managing partner assembled a team based in Miami that had overall
responsibility for Florida, The Caribbean and Latin America operations
of Southern Steam, Inc. EDR International was also responsible for
business development, bringing in new client lines from Latin America.
During this time, Mr. Del Riego and his team of EDR International
Executives were instrumental in securing $250 million in new client
business along with running the most profitable division in the
company. Southern Steam, Inc. was sold to Inchcape Shipping of London
in 1992 and Mr. Del Riego remained as VP Latin America and Executive
Board until departing in 1994 when EDR International secured a contract
with The Di Gregorio family of Brazil to develop the family's U.S.
shipping line business. Mr. Del Riego was instrumental in growing the
business to over $125 million in four years through strategic
partnerships and alliances with other global carriers while expanding
EDR International management activities and investments into the
technology sector.
In 1999 through 2000, the Di Gregorio family was forced to suspend U.S.
operations as a result of the loss of the vessel DG Harmony. EDR
International focused on management services for various technology
companies based in Amsterdam, putting together a U.S. network of Lotus
Notes training and programming centers which were sold to E-Factor.biz,
the division of a Netherlands-based group in 2004. The company
was also involved with growing and building Active Freight &
Logistics, an NVOCC based in Miami, Florida and Pearl River, New York.
Active Freight & Logistics, under the direction of an EDR
International team of professionals headed by Mr. Del Riego as
President, was transformed from a small Miami based NVOCC with revenues
under $3 million to a major player in the European export market and as
a new entrant in the Asia market grew the company's Asia business to
over $20 million annually in three years. In 2008, EDR International
finalized and sold its 50% ownership in Active Freight to Active
International, Inc. Mr. Del Riego and EDR International remain advisors
to Active International as of this date.
The company advises Super Terminais of Brazil, Grace Kennedy Shipping of Jamaica, Unimar
Agenciamientos of Brazil, DataSol Technologies, B.V., and Active
International of Pearl River New York.
