EDR International's Proven Record of Success
Southern Steamship, Inc.
In 1985, EDR International, Inc. in Miami entered into partnership
with Southern Steamship Agency headquartered in Mobile, Alabama and
was instrumental in building the company’s South America business
while operating the group’s most profitable division. Through the
leadership and network developed by EDR, Southern Steamship added
seven shipping lines from South America and the Miami office went on
to open offices in Tampa, Jacksonville, and Port Everglades in
Florida, as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico. Southern Steamship was
sold to Inchcape Shipping Services of London in 1992. Mr. Del Riego
remained with ISS until 1994, heading their Latin America Division
and serving on the Executive Board and IT Committee to assist in the
transition.
Di Gregorio Family Transportation Business.
From 1994 to 1999, EDR International partnered with The Di Gregorio
Group and supervised the U.S. operations of the family’s various
transportation-related companies. The Agency also represented in the
U.S. Di Gregorio Line the family owned Brazilian entity managed from
Brazil. Under EDR International's leadership, the business grew to
over $120 million in annual revenue. U.S. operations under EDR
direct management were significantly profitable (combined profits of
$5 million annually). EDR International was forced to suspend
representation when one of the company’s vessels caught fire,
forcing the family to stop service to the U.S.
Amazon Lines, Ltd.
Late in 1999, EDR International was hired by the owners of Amazon
Lines to assist in finding new partners for the company. EDR
International was successful in bringing in new owners and
assisted in maintaining ongoing service until the company operations
were merged into the Spanish Group based in Galica, Spain.
Active Freight & Logistics.
From
2000 to 2007, along with Mr. John Sharko, EDR International assisted
and financed the start up of a new NVOCC business named Marine Cargo
Lines. EDR International, through its network, was instrumental in
developing a partnership with Active International, resulting in the
merger of Marine Cargo Line and Active’s freight division to create
Active Freight & Logistics in 2005. The company experienced
significant growth during this period under the guidance of EDR
International, finally selling its interest to Active International
in early 2008. The company's revenues in years leading to buy out
reached $20 million annually pace.
